Republican Scott Brown won the special election in Massachusetts to replace the late Senator Kennedy. Democrats also lost their super majority in the Senate. Now what?
It's probably still too early to figure out an accurate analysis of what happened; however, from what I hear, Mass residents already have a state health care plan where almost everyone is covered and they thought that the Federal plan would add nothing to their plan but cost them more for other states like Nebraska and Louisiana which sold their votes in the Senate for billions.
I am convinced that many if not most Democrats are stupid. They stayed home in Massachusetts or worse, they voted for a Republican because the Democratic candidate did not know who a baseball player was. We get the government we deserve.
I too am disallusioned with the electorate. I am convinced that many will vote for so called moral issues like refuing gays to marry which really don't affect their lives one bit and thus vote for Republicans and against their own self interest which affects them adversely a lot. And now that corporations can spen unlimited amounts on campaigns, corporate greed will trump all.
Based on these comments it appears that Democrats in Northville are as out of touch as Democrats nationwide. Being "disillusioned with the electorate" and "convinced most Democrats are stupid" is an elitist attitude that basically says I don't care what you think because I know what is right for you.
Scott Brown ran on a very specific, very clear agenda: (1) Stop health care. (2) Don't mirandize terrorists -- treat them as captured enemy soldiers. (3) Cut spending and don't raise taxes. (4) No secret backroom deals with special interests (Louisiana and Nebraska).
If this agenda can win by a wide margin in The Peoples Republic of Massachusetts ... what do you believe the rest of the country is thinking right now? Have any of you read the polls on what the country thinks about ObamaCare?
I don't have the quote in front of me and I forget who said it this week -- but one of the blue dogs said: "If you lose Massachusetts and you don't think that is a wake-up call, then there is no chance of ever waking up".
So yes try to pass the Senate bill in the House. I am sure the rest of us stupid people won't care.
You are certainly welcome to voice your views on this issue; however, I do not think that it is appropriate for you to demean or belittle other commentators.

ReplyDeleteBrown made himself to be a person of the people where Coakley did not. Simple as that.
ReplyDeleteIn adition, the Democrats should stop screwing around with health care. The House should pass the Senate bill and move on.
