Fire Napolitano?

In the aftermath of the Christmas airplane attack that failed, many are calling for Napolitano to be fired. Is this the answer to the problem? What do you think?

  1. I don't think we know enough yet to fire Napolitano. However, someone should probably get fired and it should be who ever was responsible for connecting the dotes and keeping this guy off the plane to Detroit. This is way too serious a screw up not to hold someone responsible.

  2. I never thought I would agree with Pat Buchanan about anything. However, Buchanan thinks that who ever had the job of connecting the dots should be replaced and so do I. He also thinks that sending in our military into failed states such as Afghanistan, Yemen and Somalia is not only a waste of soldiers and money, it will only make things worse. I think he has adopted the Biden doctrine where we send is strike forces to take out specific targets who are Islamic radicals who believe in jihad against the United States. We are no longer fighting a nation state such as Germany, Japan, Italy or even North Viet Nam. We are fighting an idiology which is flourishing in failed state nations. We need to concentrate on the specific actors and not the governments.

Patrick: Napolitano came out after the attack and said that "the system worked". She was then essentially asked by CNN's Candy Crowley, how did Abdulmutallab get on the plane. Napolitano responded: "This was one individual literally of thousands that fly and thousands of flights every year. And he was stopped before any damage could be done."

Seriously? In other words "cut me some slack, this is really hard and we are doing everything we can". And who actually stopped it before "damage could be done"? Not DHS! It was an individual citizen who stepped up and took action.

So I ask you, if you are Barack Obama, is this who you want as your head of DHS? I agree she is not responsible for analyzing the actual data and doing the "connecting of the dots". It's obvious that more people need to be fired. But she is totally clueless. She should be fired.

As I told my good friend the Moderator, if this was a Bush appointee, he would be calling for his/her firing immediately.

And not to change the subject -- do you guys really want to trust your own health care to this type of bureaucratic organization? Seriously? I mean, EVEN WHEN Abdulmutallab's DAD TOLD US HE WAS CONCERNED ABOUT HIS SON, our government couldn't figure out how to take that information and make sure the right thing got done. And we believe the same sort of mentality is going to ensure that everyone gets great health care?

    My Dear Conservative Friend:

I too do not think that Napolitano is up to the job. Even today after President Obama gave his great speech, Napolitano seemed hesident, unsure and way too careful about her efforts and those of her organization.

As far as the government's ability to adquately manage our health care, they already are. They successfully manage Medicare, Medicaid and the VA Hospital system. They also successfully manage the mammoth social security program. It is simply wrong to compare a government program which is endeavoring to prevent killer attacks by Muslim radicals with programs that are endeavoring to help Americans with their health care.
