The pundits are having a field day analyzing yesterday's election results. Republican candidates for governor won in New Jersey and in Virginia while the Democratic candidate won in the 27th congressional district in upstate New York. What do you make of these results?
I think that the election in New York's 23rd (not 27th) which was a Federal election is very significant in that it was a repudiation of Palin, Army and the rest of their far right buddies. The Republican in Virginia who won didn't want Palin to some to his state.
ReplyDeleteI disagree with Janice. Doug Hoffman, a conservative, and a third party candidate, received 45% of the vote in NY-23!! I won't go as far to say that this occurred BECAUSE of Palin (I am not a Palin fan); but it absolutely does NOT reflect a repudiation of Sarah Palin. If the local GOP had not screwed this up by nominating Scozzafava, this seat would have remained in the GOP column. In fact, more people voted AGAINST Owens than voted FOR Owens.
ReplyDeleteThis was a brilliant move by President Obama. Tap a Republican in a blue state for a post (Secretary of the Army) he doesn't really care much about -- all in an effort to pick up a Democratic vote for his health care bill. It worked. But November 2010 is coming.
Do we have to repudiate the repudiation of Sarah Palin?
