George Perles for Governor?

Former MSU football coach George Perles says he intends to announce after Near Year's Day if he will run for governor of Michigan. Perles is the thrid winningest coach in Spartan history. The 75 year old Democrat had two Big Ten titles and won a Rose Bowl. He has been a member of MSU's Board of Trustees since 2006. The other candidates to announce so far are Lt Governor John Cherry, State Rep. Alma Wheeler Smith and health care reform advocate John Freeman. Any thoughts?

  1. And to think that I thought that McCain was old. I guess 75 is the new 55. If he decides to run, we will need to be very careful about who will run with him as Lt. Governor.

  3. I am not thrilled about Cherry's chances of winning. And although Perles is REALLY OLD, I would be more willing to work on his campaign than Cherry's.

  4. As a Republican, I can only hope that Perles will run. However, even if he doesn't, I don't see Cherry defeating Cox or Bouchard. And with no Obama coat tails to grab on to and with unemployment topping 10%, 2010 should be a bumper crop year for us Republicans.
