It's Easy Being Green

Club secretary and Green Up Northville activist Pilar Fierro submitted this article by NYT columnist Paul Krugman entitled "It's Easy Being Green." Here is the link:

Krugman's conclusion is this:

"So here’s the bottom line: The claim that climate legislation will kill the economy deserves the same disdain as the claim that global warming is a hoax. The truth about the economics of climate change is that it’s relatively easy being green. "

What do you think? Post a comment.

  1. Even if Krugman is incorrect, curbing global warming is the right thing to do. Must we pass the tipping point and have world wide disaster on our hands befoe we act?

  2. I agree with Victor. Why is it so important to the dunderheads to push the idea that global warming is a hoax. It makes no sense.

  3. We're a reactive society, unfortunately. It takes a bridge collapsing and killing folks in Minnesota for us to seriously (but only briefly) look at our infrastructure. This is precisely why activists are so important and why people need to talk to others about these issues.

Certainly America can retool and fix its infrastructure to deliver clean, renewable, American-made energy, but do we want to? This problem is purely political. If we make enough noise, it'll get done.

As far as denying climate change, it's incredible to me that more folks don't get on board with it purely from a cleanliness standpoint. At the absolute worst, what's wrong with making the planet more efficient and healthy?
